CRA’P – Creation and Artistic Research Practices

CRA’P – Creation and Artistic Research Practices, it is a non profit Association, created in December 2010 in Mollet del Vallés (Barcelona), Spain. Its main aim is to generate activities based on the research and the creation in the Contempory Performing Arts Practices and their dissemination.

It is phisically located at La Serradora, a working space of 115 sp. meters in Mollet del Vallés, that has already had for several years a direct relationship to the body based practices in the Performing Arts.

CRA’P intends to open La Serradora space into a shared working and reflective environment in which a diversity of body based artistic activities converge.

CRA’P aims to :

-       build links and connections between artists, scholars and a public interesed in the experiences and insights that can be communicated through the body as a site of practice, performance and research ;

-       integrate a physical structure, a collaborative network and a framework for research where the individual’s engagement with environment, training and exchange between different artistic processes can be developed as a shared resource ;

-       provide the social and cultural conditions in which any person interesed in contemporary performance arts practice and its development can engage in the practice, study and discussion of the body related to the contemporary performing arts.

CRA’P is committed to the development of artistic practice and its contexts through :

Creation : a system of residencies for professional artists and projects in the performing arts, both national and international, offering the necessary facilities, support and conditions for the development of the artistic process and practice of an interdisciplinary character, in a periferial environment ;

Training : public courses and workshop for professionals and interested people ;

Exhibition : presenting different public frames for the work and process of guest artists and other professionals, related to their projects ;

Exchange and Dialogue : organising encounters and laboratories with artists from different disciplines and cultures, in order to develop processes of research related to the analysis and practice of the contempory performing arts ;

Social developement : establishing a series of encounters and practices gathering professional artists and social collectives.

Toni Cots from CRA’P, will lead the edition, conceptualization and production of the final book that will document and contextualize the MINIATURES project, consisting on a series of pages based on the performance writing of the ten commissioned artists in 2010-2011, and five articles/ essays form scholars, journalists or specialists. The main subjects will be the ‘affected body’ and ‘on affections’. CRA’P with the collaboration of L’Officina will manage and rise the necessary funding for the edition and printing of the book in different languages according to the artistic pages from the 10 miniatures and the 5 different essays related to the five different partners and collaborators of the Network.
